Hemmings: Making an impression

New signing keen to make impact

Burton Albion forward Ashley Hemmings is keen to take his chance following Thursday’s loan move from Walsall.

The 23 year-old signed on Thursday’s loan deadline, and wants to make an impression after being out of the team at Walsall.

“I’m definitely pleased to be here. It’s a great opportunity come in, help the boys get promoted and that’s what I want to do.

“I don’t think it will surprise people. For the last couple of months at Walsall I haven’t been playing that much. I’m 23 so I want to be playing football week-in, week-out and I hope I can do that here,” said Hemmings.

Hemmings said he chose the Brewers for their promotion ambitions, and having had previous loan spells at other clubs, knows what the division is about.

“It’s a team that are striving for success. They have a goal in front of them and they want to get promoted so I wanted to come here and help.

“I’ve played in League Two before so I’m used to it, but you still have to work hard and be consistent. If you do that you have a good chance of making the play-offs, which is something this team can do. I want to come in, play well and do well for the team,” Hemmings said.

Manager Gary Rowett has spoken of Hemmings’ pace and trickery as being key attributes, and the forward is keen to show what he can do in his time at the club – starting with Saturday’s game at York City.

“I’ve got to use my strengths as the manager has said, and that will help as I like to run at players and take them on.

“I’m ready to play whenever the manager wants me, I’ll be waiting for my chance and I’m keen to take it.

“York are doing well, but if we go there with a good team spirit and do the right things, we can probably take the game.”
