SHANE CANSDELL-SHERRIFF SIGNS FOR BURTON ALBION

28 May 2014

Defender makes move permanent

Burton Albion have signed defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff on a permanent deal until July 2016.

The Australian defender spent the 2013/14 season on loan with the Brewers from Preston North End, and has made the move permanent after his contract at Deepdale expired.

The 31 year-old played 36 games last season after joining in September, and becomes Gary Rowett’s first permanent signing of the summer.

“We’re pleased to be able to bring Shane in on a more long term basis,” said Rowett.

“He was a big asset to us during last season and he played a big part in our excellent defensive record.”

“He’s played at League One level before, and he’s the kind of player that will help us make the step up.”

Meanwhile, Burton Albion have announced that six players have been released.

Zander Diamond, Gary Alexander, Jack Dyer, Michael Symes, David Gray and Freddy Hall are all out of contract and have not been offered new terms.

The club would like to thank each player for their efforts in their time with Burton Albion, and we wish them all the best for the future.
