Burton Albion have signed free agent George Taft on a two-year contract.

Taft, a 6ft 5’ centre back, was most recently at Leicester City, where he was a product of their youth academy.

He never made an appearance for the Foxes, instead spending time on loan with Kettering Town in the Conference, Swedish side Karlstad BK and made three appearances at York City last season.

Taft was released at the end of the season by Leicester, and has quickly been snapped up by Gary Rowett.

“George is a player we’ve been watching for a while, and we’re pleased to have him on board.

“He brings a lot of height to the team, something that we probably lacked a bit last season and we’re confident he can give us something a little bit different going into next season.”
