Women in Business event this Autumn

17 September 2014

Business women from across the region are invited to the third in a series of Burton & District Chamber of Commerce ‘Women in Business’ successful events this autumn, on 23rd October – with a ‘Practical Approach to Social Media’ session included.

With over 500 million* Tweets sent each day around the world on Twitter, and 300 million* Linked In users, it’s no wonder businesses use these communication platforms every day, to increase awareness and ultimately drive sales.

This is why the Chamber of Commerce has arranged a ‘Practical Approach to Social Media’ interactive event, to allow delegates to gain the maximum benefit from using social media sites - hosted by two local business women, Karen Cureton (Cureton Consulting) and Elaine Pritchard (Caittom Publishing).

The event will be held on Thursday 23rd October, from 11.30am until 2pm, in the Tom Bradbury Suite at Burton Albion Football Club following the previous two successful events this year, which attracted 140 business women from across the region.

Carol Sewell from Burton & District Chamber of Commerce said: “We are thrilled with the success of Women in Business events this year and hope our interactive Social Media session will inspire ladies who already use Twitter and Linked In, and for those who really need some expert advice on where to start – like me!

“We are very pleased to have Karen and Elaine on-board to offer real insight on topics such as: how to build or improve a business profile, plus the advantages and pit falls when using this type of business communication. Every lady who books a place will be encouraged to bring their laptop, tablet or smart phone along to gain maximum benefit by putting their training into practice straight away live at the event.”

Karen Cureton, director of Cureton Consulting said: “I will be talking about the Power of Twitter! The presentation is designed to help people who aren’t already using Twitter, why they need to use it and for those that are already using Twitter to promote their business how they can use it as a great marketing tool – there will be lots of top tips and a great offer for WiB ladies!”

Elaine Pritchard, Caittom Publishing said: "LinkedIn has been a great help to me in growing my business. I believe that whatever line of work you are in there is SOMETHING you could gain from using LinkedIn and I'm looking forward to sharing that with local business women on 23rd October."

The Chamber’s event partners Hoar Cross Hall Spa Hotel, The Smith Partnership and FCM Associates were delighted to continue their support Women in Business which they hope will inspire and support women running businesses across the region.

Burton based FCM Associates will also be on hand during the event to host a PR surgery, where any of the delegates can have a ‘one to one’ session to discuss publicity ideas for their business.

Tickets cost £18 +VAT including a welcome drink, hot buffet lunch, tea/coffee and dessert.
