SHARPS ON WIMBLEDON DEFEAT

17 September 2014

Some thought’s from Ian Sharps after last night’s 3-0 defeat to Wimbledon at the Kingsmeadow.

On Where They Struggled:

“All over the pitch if I’m honest and I don't think anyone played to their potential tonight.

“We've let ourselves and the fans down and we need to put it right Saturday.

“We haven't gone down with much of a fight. We had a good go second-half but when your 2-0 down it's easier to have a good go.

“You need to have a good go when its 0-0 and we haven't done that tonight.

“They’re (Tubbs and Akinfenwa) two good players, but we've got to deal with them and stop the ball coming to them better.

“I think they won too many headers in our box, put too many balls in and we haven't defended well enough.”

On Whether They Could See The Result Coming:

“I don't know so might need to ask someone else that.

“I thought Saturday in the first-half we did ok and first-half today we didn't do ok.

“But to be fair to Wimbledon they played well and play to their strengths and put us under a lot of pressure.”

On Saturday’s Trip To Bury:

“We go into each game trying to get three points and no matter what the result was tonight we'll have a good go.

“We've got to think about the next one now. Bury are a totally different team and will have different tactics to Wimbledon, so we'll have to approach the game slightly differently.”
