21 March 2017

TWO players from the Burton Albion Football Academy have shaved their heads in order to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Lucas McDonald and Ciaran Kelly are raising money for the UK charity after their friendā€™s mother was diagnosed with cancer.

On the 27 October 2016 Matthew Leekā€™s family received the news that over 350,000 people receive every year in the UK.
Ā
At the start of the fundraising process the youngsters were aiming to raise Ā£700 but have surpassed the initial target and have raised about Ā£2,000.
Ā
If youā€™d like to donate to the cause you can do so by following this link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/matthew-leek. Lucas and Ciaran are urging donors to select ā€˜gift aidā€™ the donation, as it will help further with the campaign.

Ciaran Kelly said: ā€œMy contribution to Cancer aware is in support of a year 9 friend at school and a year 7 friendā€™s mum who have both recently been diagnosed with a form of cancer. I am hopingĀ to raise more awareness and show thatĀ this illnessĀ has no age preference. As a child I used toĀ think it is just older people that would get ill like this.ā€
