AWAY VERDICT

27 July 2016

HASSELBAINK proud of Brewers amid QPR frustration.

Former Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said that he was not pleased with his QPR side’s performance in their 1-1 draw at the Pirelli Stadium.

Hasselbaink was returning to the Pirelli with his new side for the first time and after the game he conceded that they did not deserve to win the game:

“I was not happy with our performance. We needed to keep the ball better, we were in trouble too much and we lost a lot of second balls. We struggled to dictate, something which Burton did very well.

“We want to compete and progress but, after what I have seen tonight from my players, we need to improve significantly.”

Hasselbaink admitted that he had been delighted to see the Brewers succeed under Nigel Clough, continuing the success they experienced under the Dutchman.

“Of course I want them to do well, I hope they can continue to progress as a club. It is a nice club, where I have a lot of good memories and I wish them all the best.”

The 1-1 draw saw Burton retain the Bass Charity Vase.
