BEAVON SAYS BREWERS NEED TO BE MORE RUTHLESS

21 November 2016

STUART Beavon was back in the Burton Albion squad when they faced Reading at the Madejski Stadium yesterday.

The Brewers fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Reading in what was a bad day at the office for Nigel Clough's men.

Beavon says the defeat was disappointing and admits they should have scored early on in the game: "It was disappointing. We came here and our performances have been good and we thought we could get a result but individual errors cost us the game. When I say individual errors I mean all over the pitch.

"We had chances to score and we should have gone ahead early and even when we was two down we still had chances to score.

"We want to win games and it's our job up front to score the goals.

"We're not scoring and the lads at the back are trying their best, it's just errors that have cost us at both ends.

"You very rarely get a one-on-one or a cleat-cut chance but the ball has fallen for us a couple of times but we just weren't quick enough.

"You've got to keep working hard and one will go in soon, you've got to get in the right places at the right times."

Burton had 17 shots against Reading, with five of those hitting the target, but still no goals away from home for Clough's men.

"I just think we need to keep doing what we're doing, we're playing well at home and getting results and playing fairly well away," said Beavon. He added: "It's just a case of plugging away. We just need that bit of luck and be a bit more ruthless and the points will come."
