GARY Rowett will be returning to the Pirelli Stadium for the first time in a competitive fixture tonight when Birmingham City come to town to take on Burton Albion.
Birmingham City have picked up eight points from from their last five games whilst Clough’s Burton have picked up five points from their last five games. Rowett’s side will be heading into the game off the back of a 4-2 victory over Rotherham whilst Burton will be looking to turn their fortunes around after being beaten 2-0 by Ipswich.The Blues have had a great start to the season, picking up 23 points and currently sitting 5th in the Sky Bet Championship. Their most notable signing from the summer was Che Adams who signed for an undisclosed fee from Sheffield United. He’s scored two goals in the league this season, whilst Lukas Jutkiewicz, another summer signing, has scored four goals in the league thus far.
Nigel Clough said: “When points are at stake there is no romance. Birmingham as going as well as they are in the top six so they will want to stay in that and we’re desperate to stay away from that bottom three so there’s no sentimentality or no romance so we will both be scrapping away for the points.”
Gary Rowett said: "It's about what plan we think is right to beat Burton which will be difficult, and then it's about finding the best players for those positions that are going to be ready to put the required effort in.
"It might be it's exactly the same 11 or it might be that we have to change two or three players. I'll probably know more today when I see the players train."
Tim Robinson is the man in the middle tonight. He has taken charge of 12 matches this season and has dished out 58 yellow cards, an average of five per match. He has also brandished three red cards in his 12 games. He most recently took charge of Blackburn’s home game against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
All seated tickets have sold out for this fixture but there are still terrace tickets available for home supporters. All away tickets have sold out and Birmingham fans are being advised not to travel if they don’t have a ticket.
