BREWERS BOSS KNOWS STRENGTH OF NORWICH SQUAD

23 September 2016

BURTON Albion are back on the road on Saturday in the Sky Bet Championship as Nigel Clough’s man take on Norwich City.

Norwich were relegated from the Premier League last season whilst the Brewers were promoted from League One, so it’s the first time the two sides have met in a competitive fixture.

The Canaries beat Everton 2-0 in midweek in the EFL Cup, and 35-year-old Alex Neil made ten changes to the side that beat Nottingham Forest with Robbie Brady the only survivor.

Clough said: “Norwich went to Everton in the EFL Cup and can make 10 changes something like that.

“They have a very strong squad and they will say that’s what they need to stand a chance of getting back up.

“I think they are trying to do it the best way by keeping the squad together so that if they do get back up they will be better the next time in the Premiership.”

Despite Burton never facing Norwich, Nigel Clough has met his opposite number and has a good idea of his managerial style:

“I have met Alex Neil a couple of times and he’s very quiet, studious and just gets on with the job.

“I think it is great that he kept his job. He got them up, they didn’t stay in there but it’s lovely they have kept faith with him as a manager.”

The Brewers boss believes the Canaries, under Alex Neil, have a good chance of going back up to the Premier League.

“He has the best chance to get them back up and when he does he will be better prepared to keep them there. And as a club it sometimes takes a few yoyo years and you build from there.”
