BREWERS FACE TOUGHEST RUN OF GAMES IN CLUB'S HISTORY

8 December 2016

NIGEL Clough believes the next run of fixtures is the hardest the club has faced in its history.

He said: “We are trying not to look too hard at the next four fixtures coming up as they are probably the four hardest games the club has ever faced. You have Brentford away, then Huddersfield and Newcastle at home and Aston Villa away on Boxing Day. We have never had a tougher run of fixtures than that.”

A disappointment for Clough is that Albion’s performances are going under the TV radar at present.

After early televised games against Liverpool, Derby and Birmingham, the Brewers have not been selected for any matches going forward until at least the end of February.

Clough said: “The twice in Championship we have been on have been good games – the atmosphere has been wonderful and they have been a good spectacle for TV. I’m not surprised we have not been put on away from home but, here at the Pirelli, it’s such a special story – a capacity of less than 7,000 competing with the Championship clubs - that you would have thought they would have put us on.

“We thought the Newcastle game might have been on TV as it shows up the contrast in the Championship more than any other fixture. You have a club with a stadium of over 50,000 and all the history that goes with Newcastle United compared with Burton Albion. That really does drive home the difference.

“We enjoy being on TV – it’s a good atmosphere under the lights. The money doesn’t make a big difference to Newcastle but it does to us. It might even affect what we can do in January.”
