BREWERS SET FOR BEN TURNER APPEAL

18 April 2017

BURTON Albion defender Ben Turner will lodge an appeal over the FA Regulatory Commission’s decision that a charge for misconduct against him was proven.

The charge related to the Brewers game against Brentford on Saturday, December 10, 2016.

It was alleged that in the fixture Turner used abusive and/or insulting words towards an opponent.

The members of the FA Regulatory Commission, having considered the evidence presented at the hearing, found the alleged breach of FA Rule E3(2) proven.

The club have been waiting to receive the written reasons of the Regulatory Commission before deciding whether to appeal.

Manager Nigel Clough said: “Everybody at the club is still incredibly disappointed with the commission’s decision. Having now seen the written reasons for that decision, and having taken legal advice, the club will appeal.”

The members of the commission handed Turner a five-game suspension but he will be able to carry on playing until a final decision is made at the appeal hearing.

Burton Albion have until April 22 to lodge the formal grounds for the appeal.
