NIGEL Clough wore his ‘Star Of Hope’ badge on Saturday to show support for the ‘Know The Score’ Charity.
The Burton Albion players also wore the ‘Know The Score’ shires during their warm up in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday (see picture above).April marks the ‘Bowel Cancer Awareness’ month and leading charities such as The Bobby Moore Find, The Adam Stansfield Foundation, Beating Bowel Cancer, Bowel Cancer UK, the Men’s Health Forum and The Mr Brightside Project will all come together to promote key symptoms of the illness.
The campaign was created by former Millwall, Charlton and QPR goalkeeper Nicky Johns, whose son sadly died of the illness at the age of 26.
This year marks the seventh year of the campaign and the four ambassadors who will support it are Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, Crystal Palace forward Andros Townsend, Liverpool ladies captain Gemma Bonner and former England and Tottenham defender Ledley King.
This year also marks seven years since the popular former Exeter, Yeovil and Hereford striker Adam Stansfield passed away from bowel cancer at the age of 31.
Brewers manager Nigel Clough said: “I would like to draw the attention of all our fans and supporters to the Know The Score bowel cancer campaign. The campaign is being promoted by the Bobby Moore Fund, The Adam Stansfield Foundation, Beating Bowel Cancer, Bowel Cancer UK, the Men’s Health Forum and The Mr Brightside Project.
“I wore the ‘Star Of Hope’ badge to raise awareness towards the campaign alongside the League Managers Association. Bowel Cancer can affect men and women of all ages. It is very important that we are all aware of the symptoms.”
