CLOUGH SAYS BREWERS WILL HAVE TO BE AT THEIR VERY BEST AT WOLVES

9 September 2016

NIGEL Clough says that his team has now set the benchmark for performances going forward after wins against Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County.

Albion travel to Wolves tomorrow hoping to build on seven points in the last three Championship games but Clough says his team will have to be at their very best at Molineux.

The Brewers boss said: “We know the standard we have to aspire to in order to get points at this level.

“What we have learned after five games is that we have to be at our very best in this league to get anything. If we aren’t at our best either defensively or going forward then we will get nothing.

“We are just getting used to the system as well. It takes time for players to learn about each other and playing a back three is entirely different to a back four. The wing backs are crucial and their positional sense.”

Wolves will offer a tough test for the Brewers says Clough.

“They are certainly one of the big spenders in the Championship. They have invested big. That highlights the difference between clubs like that and us.

“They are playing well and have a lot of confidence. We have Fulham coming up as well.

“Anything we can get on the road will be a bonus. With Brighton at home and Norwich away, the next four games will be as difficult as we will have all season.

“We could play well in all of them and not get anything out of them – that’s the quality you have in the Championship.”
