BEN TURNER HEARING: CLUB STATEMENT

31 March 2017

BURTON Albion defender Ben Turner’s hearing has taken place after his charge for misconduct in relation to the Brewers game against Brentford on Saturday, December 10, 2016

It was alleged that in the fixture he used abusive and/or insulting words towards an opponent.

The members of the FA Regulatory Commission, having considered the evidence presented at the hearing, found the alleged breach of FA Rule E3(2) proven.

Having then considered the mitigation presented, the members of the Commission have ordered the following:
- A five game suspension;
-  A fine of £8,000;
- Attendance at an FA education course.

Burton Albion have the right to appeal after receiving written reasons for the decision and therefore the sanctions will not apply immediately and Turner can play at Huddersfield tomorrow.

Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough said: "We are incredibly disappointed with the outcome of the hearing. We won't be making any further comment until we receive the written reasons from the FA Regulatory Commission."
