NIGEL Clough says that despite losing points to late goals in the last two games he is encouraged by the start to the season.
He said: “There have been a lot of encouraging things for us in the first period of the season.
“Performances have exceeded expectations and if you had offered us the results we have got before the start of the season we would have taken them. But now, having seen how the games have panned out we are disappointed with our return. We deserve a few more points on the board.
“It’s a little double edged at the moment how we feel but our performances have been good and when you see teams conceding fours and fives and six, for us to lose our three games by only the odd goal is very encouraging.
“The squad has gelled together and when you are talking new formations and shapes we didn’t expect it to slot together so quickly but that is credit to the players and the work they do and the way they have adapted as well. If you put good characters together you have a better chance and that’s what we always try to do.”
