BURTON Albion face their second consecutive away game on Saturday as they head to Loftus Road to face Queens Park Rangers in the Sky Bet Championship.
Nigel Clough’s men have never played at Loftus Road but the teams drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture at the Pirelli Stadium back in September.The Brewers have won one game in the last eight league games, losing seven. In contrast, QPR have found a bit of form recently. They have lost four of their last eight but have won two of their four games this year, drawing one and losing one in the Emirates FA Cup.
Burton Albion were unlucky to lose last time out was they conceded a last minute goal which saw them defeated by one goal to nil.
QPR took the lead in their last game against Fulham, but the goal was cancelled out with 15 minutes to play as Chris Martin scored an equaliser for the Cottagers.
Clough expects QPR to take advantage of home soil: “Ian Holloway came in and they won one or two and then lost six on the spin, which happens to most teams in the Championship. But since then he has turned it round and they are in good form at the moment. Ian is an ebullient character whether on the TV or touchline I don’t think he changes.
“People think the Pirelli is a small pitch but QPR is much smaller. It’s one of the smallest in the league and they use that to their advantage and get in your face and don’t give you much space.”
The opposition manager Ian Holloway said: “Burton will see this as an opportunity – of course they will, they’ll know that they can claw themselves closer to us by getting a result here. I think they’ve done really well – which I predicted they would do at the start of the season. They’re a shining example to anyone new coming into this division. Their biggest strength is their optimism and what a trait that is to have.”Â
Geoff Eltringham will be the man with the whistle on Saturday. The referee from County Durham has brandished 79 yellow cards in his 25 games this season, an average of three per game. Mr Eltringham has shown four red cards this season, and one of those was in his most-recent game between Rotherham and Norwich on 14 January. He has officiated the Brewers once this season, in their 1-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Pirelli Stadium where a penalty was awarded in the 89th minute which proved to be the winning goal.

Ticket prices will increase by £4.00 on the day of the fixture so BAFC supporters should purchase their tickets in advance. If you’re buying tickets at Loftus Road you’ll need to pay by cash only at the away turnstiles.
As a goodwill gesture for the late fixture change - and with the help of QPR’s partners Carlsberg and Azure - the home side are pleased to be able to offer a special meal deal to both sets of supporters attending the fixture.
Vouchers will be handed out by stewards as supporters pass through the turnstiles and enter the stadium (up until 2.30pm), allowing fans to purchase a pie and a pint (alternative drinks also available) at all kiosks for just ÂŁ3.00, equating to a substantial saving (RRP ÂŁ7.80).
With the above gesture in mind, supporters are encouraged to use their voucher as soon as they enter the stadium to avoid congestion at the kiosk points.
