INTERNATIONAL ROUND-UP

28 March 2017

BURTON Albion’s international players have enjoyed a successful spell over the past two weeks, having played five games between them.

Jackson Irvine, Tom Flanagan, Cauley Woodrow and Lasse Vigen Christensen have all been away with their respective countries over the past two weeks, and have picked up a lot of international minutes between them.

There has also been two goals scored between the four players whilst on international duty, as Cauley Woodrow and Jackson Irvine both got themselves on the scoresheet for their respective countries.

JACKSON IRVINE

Albion’s 24-year-old midfielder picked up his 8th and 9th caps for Australia during the final international break of the season, although the Aussie hadn’t started an international game before their match against Iraq on Thursday.

Irvine has now started Australia’s last two games, picking up a man of the match award din his first game and scoring his first every Socceroos goal in his second game and helping them to a 2-0 victory against UAE.

TOM FLANAGAN

Albion’s versatile defender Tom Flanagan is yet to receive his first international cap, although this was only the second time he had been called up to the senior national squad.

Flanagan's Northern Ireland were 2-0 winners over Norway on Sunday, but the Albion defender was named on the bench.

CAULEY WOODROW

Cauley Woodrow was an unused substitute as England U21s narrowly lost out to Germany, Nadiem Amiri's first-half strike was the difference.

The two Fulham-loanees faced up against each other on Monday night as England U21s beat Denmark U21s 4-0, with Albion forward Cauley Woodrow getting himself on the score sheet. Lasse Christensen started for Denmark.

LASSE VIGEN CHRISTENSEN

The Danes are in a bad spell at the moment, having lost their last two matches, taking them to three games without a victory despite going 11 games unbeaten before that.

On-loan Fulham midfielder Lasse Christensen has played, and started in both of Denmark’s matches during this international break including their 4-0 defeat to England where he faced up against fellow-Albion man Cauley Woodrow.
