IRVINE SAYS BREWERS WILL REFLECT ON ACHIEVEMENTS ONCE SAFETY IS SECURED

27 April 2017

JACKSON Irvine says that people should stand back and take stock of Burton Albion’s amazing achievements this season once safety is secured.

The midfielder says: “Because we have done so well and had impressive performances it’s lost on people the magnitude of where we are sitting at this current time.

“Now we want to win the last two games and push on even further.

“People had written us off from day one but having spoken to the manager and staff before I came in they were confident of putting a squad together that could compete and from the very first games we showed there was nothing to fear.

“The Championship is so fiercely competitive that you can see upsets every week and the size of the clubs we are above is testament to how well we have done.”

Irvine stresses however that there is still work to be done at Barnsley on Saturday.

“It’s never done until it’s mathematically over and we will keep concentrating until it’s definite.

“When the day comes that we are safe we will very much enjoy it. We will then reflect on the season but that’s hard at this point when we are still concentrating on the next game.

“At this point we can’t take in the magnitude of everything that has happened this season but hopefully once it’s all done and dusted we can look back and reflect on all we have achieved.

“We will go into this fixture with the same mentality as the rest and since February our form has had a massive turn around and carrying on at that level will see us to safety.

“Having been here a year, I now know more about the club and I know the rise of Burton Albion has been truly remarkable.”
