THE Brewers have had bad luck with injuries so far this season but the squad is starting to return to full-strength although Nigel Clough will be without defender John Brayford for a number of weeks.
The man on loan from Sheffield United pulled up with a groin injury on Saturday against Norwich and was forced off just before half time. A small tear in his groin will keep him on the sidelines for up to three weeks.Nigel Clough said: “He is definitely out for the next two or three weeks.
“He has got a small tear in his groin, the good thing is it will give his knee a chance to heal because he hasn’t been training he’s just been playing the games.
“He will have two or three weeks of rest then we will see what he’s looking like towards the Wigan game but that might be a little bit too soon, it might be the Birmingham one the week after.”
Lee Williamson was brought off at half time last night due to a tight hamstring and Nigel Clough doesn't think he'll be an option for Saturday.
"He had a tight hamstring. It’s not actually gone but he had a slight strain so we brought him off. He was still feeling it this morning so he will be doubtful for Saturday."
Clough saw the return of Kyle McFadzean from his three-game suspension last night, Ben Turner also returned to the squad after missing out at Norwich at the weekend. The Brewers boss was pleased to see the same back three that face Nottingham Forest playing together again after being separated so early on in the season.
“That’s why we looked a bit more solid and conceded fewer chances,” said Clough. “Jon McLaughlin made a few good saves in the first half, one from a free kick and one where someone is going through so generally speaking we were more solid.”
Nigel Clough also indicated Chris O'Grady could return for Saturday's fixture against Cardiff.
