MCCRORY SIGNS NEW DEAL WITH THE BREWERS

28 June 2016

BREWERS defender Damien McCrory has signed a new two-year deal with Burton Albion.

McCrory joined the Brewers in 2012 from Dagenham and has been part of a solid defensive unit that has seen the Brewers move from League Two to the Championship.

Brewers manager Nigel Clough said: “We are delighted that Damien has committed to another two seasons. He has been a stalwart and we are looking forward to seeing him make that step up to the Championship.

“With him being out of contract he will have had other offers but he wants to continue with us and move with the club from League Two, League One and now the Championship.

“Left back is a niche position and there’s not many natural ones out there so he would have attracted attention because of that as well.

“We will be bringing in quite a few new players and it’s important to have that continuity if we want to be successful.

“Now, like everyone else, he has to improve as we go up a level.”

McCrory said: “I made it clear to the Gaffer I wanted to get something sorted here and now it is I can crack on and prepare for next season.

“Everyone is back this week, the fixtures are out and it’s very exciting to see the games we have coming up, the level of football we are playing in and the stadiums we are going to.”
