MOUSINHO SAYS TOMORROW'S GAME HAS AN ADDED BONUS

3 February 2017

JOHN Mousinho says Saturday’s game has a little bit more of an incentive knowing that a win could close the gap between Burton Albion and 16th-placed Wolves.

The Brewers are seven points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers heading into tomorrow’s game so a win would close the gap to just four points.

Mousinho said: “It will be an added bonus if we win on Saturday and pull Wolves in to it.

“If you go and beat Newcastle and Brighton then obviously that’s not going to happen but it’s still three points on offer with every game that you play.

“No games are more important than the other but it would be an added bonus on Saturday if we could close the gap on a couple of those sides in mid-table and at the same time drag ourselves away from the bottom three.”

Burton Albion have only been in the drop zone once this season after 29 games but a recent victory against QPR lifted the Brewers out of the bottom three, and now three points from safety.

“I do, I look at the table and check the results,” said Mousinho. “It was a shame that Newcastle couldn’t hold on against QPR (on Wednesday) and Leeds scored last minute against Blackburn.

“You can’t rely on other results but once our result is down I do go and have a check and keep an eye on the table.

“I take heart from the fact that we’re still out of the relegation zone and we have got every chance. Another week ticked off and we’re out of the bottom three.”
