NIGEL CLOUGH'S LEEDS UNITED REACTION

22 April 2017

NIGEL Clough is celebrating back-to-back wins for the Brewers for the first time in the Championship after the 2-1 win over Leeds.

The Brewers now only need one point from the last two games to guarantee safety

Clough said: "It's tantalisingly close. It's not mathematically done yet - we need a clean sheet and I would back our lads to do that in one of the two games. The lads are shattered and a little bit disappointed as if Wolves had scored against Blackburn it would have been done today but we have to wait another week.

"We have had a few big results recently with the win at Huddersfield and bouncing back at Birmingham and this one today. This result is right up there - to get us to 51 points in the Championship and with the amount of pressure Leeds put us under in the last 10 minutes to see it through means this has to be right up there.

"Marvin Sordell's goal was brilliant. He does it all the time in training. Once he turns and is facing the goal he hits it with such power and accuracy the keeper has no chance.

"Conceding one made it more stressful at the end and John Brayford had to come off injured which wasn't ideal but the lads protected Stephen Bywater today brilliantly just as they did last week.

"To get the first back-to-back wins in the 44th game with Leeds going for the play offs again shows how the players have pulled it out of the bag at times incredibly."
