NIGEL CLOUGH'S PRESTON REACTION

26 November 2016

NIGEL Clough was delighted with his team's all round performance as they earned a 1-1 draw at Deepdale this afternoon.

After the 3-0 defeat at Reading last week, the Brewers boss was pleased with the reaction from his players.

He said: "That was more like us - competing. In the second half we were under the cosh at times but got the blocks in and restricted them to just a few chances despite the pressure.

"We started well and had five shots in the first five  minutes - one has hit the bar, one hit the keeper so we were due a break in the opposition penalty area and deserved our goal and lead. I thought the way we set about the game was  magnificent. Having not won away from home it was great to start the game so positively. It would have been easy after last week's defeat to still be sorry for ourselves.

"Their goal was a complete fluke in stoppage time of the first half and gave them a lift. We knew they would come at us in the second half but even then we had enough situations ourselves to get a winner.

"We played well throughout the game today in different aspects. When we had to we have defended and have created numerous chances going forward."
