NIGEL CLOUGH'S READING REACTION

7 May 2017

NIGEL Clough says that he feels proud that his team has stayed in the Championship.

The Brewers ended the season with a 4-2 defeat to Reading but already knew that safety had been secured.

Clough summed up the feeling after the final whistle: "There is satisfaction and pride that we have stayed in this league.

"I said last week to the lads at Barnsley when we were 1-0 down that we needed that point and the results today proved that. We  could have gone down without that result last week - that's how important it was.

"The supporters today, you could see, appreciated the players efforts, this season."

The Albion boss thought the Brewers could have got something out of today's games

"We played with freedom and with the shackles off today. We conceded four goals. A couple of them scrappy but their second goal was a magnificent effort and we can't do anything about that.

"It was a good performance from us - not really too much wrong with it.

"We started the season with a 4-3 and finished with a 4-2 and both could have been 5-5 all. It would be nice to play a bit more like that next season. But we have to get the balance right and still be solid.

"They are the third best team in the league but we still had a lot of play against them and a lot of situations.

"Will Miller produced a magnificent save from their keeper and we could have scored at any time today."
