NO FEARS OF BIG MONEY CLUBS FOR TURNER

22 September 2016

BREWERS defender Ben Turner isn’t concerned by the fact that there are no big money signings in the Albion dressing room.

Clubs like Newcastle and Wolves can afford to pay £8 million plus transfer fees whereas Albion’s acquisitions have to be more modest.

But big fees don’t guarantee success, says Turner.

He says: “We are playing clubs with two or more £8 million pound players on the pitch when we have paid more like £200,000 in the summer. It shows you the gulf in money but it doesn’t mean we can’t beat those teams as there are tiny margins in terms of ability.

“And some of the young players at Burton Albion could become £8 million players. They might not realise it but Matty Palmer can become and £8 million player – there’s no reason he can’t do that.

"And there are others in the team who can step up and go on to be those players.

“It’s up to everyone individually as a team to push on and move forward.”

Turner also says no-one should underestimate the Brewers.

“We were odds-on favourites to get relegated and we are not in the relegation zone so what we have done so far has to be seen as a success but it’s just a short term success we have to replicate that four times over.”
