BASS CHARITY VASE UP FOR GRABS AGAINST QPR

21 July 2016

TUESDAY nights friendly against Queens Park Rangers will see the two clubs compete for the local Bass Charity Vase Trophy.

The Bass Charity Vase was founded in Burton in 1889 is a football competition to be competed for annually by major teams, in particular Football League clubs that proceeds from the game go towards medical related and hospital charities. 
 
The Brewers have won the competition the last three times beating Sheffield United last time out under current Brewers manager Nigel Clough 4-0. The Albion have also beat Derby County in the two times before that in 2011 and 2013.
 
Previous winners include Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Coventry City, Derby County, Leiecester City, Liverpool, Notts County, Nottingham Forest, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion. 
 
Burton Albion chairman Ben Robinson said: “I would like to welcome members of the Bass Vase committee to the game. The charity has raised tens of thousands for good causes and has a long and rich history which Burton Albion has always been proud to have a part in.”
 
The vase will be presented to the winning team come the end of the game.
