QPR PREVIEW

27 September 2016

BURTON Albion will host Queens Park Rangers tonight which see’s former manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink back at the Pirelli Stadium.

The two teams met back in a pre-season in July at the Pirelli Stadium, which finished 1-1 with goals from Brewers striker Stuart Beavon and Rangers defender Nedum Onuoha.

The last time the two sides met competitively was in the EFL Cup when the Brewers, then in League Two, defeated a QPR side under Harry Redknapp 1-0 thanks to goal from former Burton attacker Adam McGurk.

Four of the current Albion side started against QPR that night, with Jon McLaughlin, John Mousinho, Marcus Harness and Matty Palmer all playing against Ranger who were in the Premiership at that time.

QPR come into tonight’s game having not won in five matches. Saturday saw them pick up a point in a 1-1 home draw against Birmingham City thanks to a Steven Caulker equaliser.

Dutch attacker Tjaronn Chery is their current top scorer with four league goals, who will be hoping to better his ten from last season.

Brewers manager Nigel Clough said ahead of the game: “QPR will be a tough game, they played very well against Birmingham in the second-half on Saturday and could have won the game. It’ll be good to see Jimmy, David, Jack and Gavin who played a big part in the clubs success, we will certainly share a beer after the game."

Clough also gave an update on injuries: "We aren’t sure on Ben Turner or Chris O’Grady at the minute and we will make a decision before kick-off. The injured pair of Damien McCrory and John Brayford are out, also Tom Flanagan with suspension. However, we are pleased to be able to get Kyle McFadzean back from suspension as he is an important player.”
