JOE Sbarra was pleased with his goal that helped ensure the Brewers go through to the second-round of the Birmingham Senior Cup beating Lye Town 2-0.
Sbarra who recently signed his first professional contract said: “It was all about seeing the first twenty to thirty minutes through as we expected them to come at us hard and then the game opened up a bit and our quality saw us through. We are happy with the two goals and the clean sheet.
“In terms of my goal I don’t usually scored too many outside the box, I just saw the one-on-one open up and I heard the call run at him so I did and luckily my shot didn’t bobble over and went into the back of the net. I have been scoring a few goals lately so I am glad to continue that.”
Sbarra spoke of his aim to continue to impress in the hope of more rewards at first-team level, having been on the bench this season against Brighton: “Of course I want to be in the first-team as soon as I can really, I couldn’t believe when I was told I’d be on the bench against Brighton. Hopefully I will get the chance again this season that’s the aim, it was a great feeling seeing my shirt hung up with my number and then having my name read out in the stadium in front of the fans and family.”
