SORDELL DELIGHTED WITH HIS FIRST STRIKE FOR BREWERS

27 February 2017

MARVIN Sordell opened his goalscoring account for Burton Albion with a stunning equaliser against Blackburn Rovers on Friday night, and hopes his goal will be the first of many for the Brewers.

Burton had started the second-half brighter than they had ended the first when Sordell produced a brilliant curling effort from outside the box, which flew into the top corner of Jason Steele’s net.

The former Watford man joined Burton at the start of 2017 from Coventry City, but despite a string a good performances, the striker had failed to score before Friday night. Sordell was delighted with his goal, and hopes that it can kick-start a scoring run for him.

“All goals are good goals, if it goes in then it is a good goal to me, so it doesn’t really make too much of  a difference.

"It is a  bit disappointing to have taken so long to get my first, but hopefully I can start scoring a few more now.

“I think we definitely deserved a point from the game, you saw at the end how close we have come to getting all three.

"For us, it is great moving forward after the last three games, getting five points is a massive bonus.”

Albion's next game comes against another relegation rival in Bristol City.
