BREWERS BOSS ADMITS DENNY JOHNSTONE HAS BEEN KNOCKING ON THE DOOR

17 April 2015

Denny Johnstone scored his first goal for the Brewers since joining on loan from Birmingham City back in March. The big target man has managed to get himself a fair few minutes under his belt since arriving at the Pirelli Stadium including his first start away from home when the Brewers picked up a point away to fellow promotion chasing Plymouth Argyle.

Despite rescuing a point for his team, Brewers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is pleased for everybody and insists that the win was a team effort.

“I am pleased for everybody.

“Denny Johnstone has been knocking on the door but I am pleased for everybody because everybody has been working really hard.”

Burton Albion have come from behind quite a lot of times this season to pick up points. The Brewers have only lost three games since the arrival of the Dutch manager Hasselbaink so it would have seemed unusual to lose to a side facing a safety battle.

Team performances are something that Hasselbaink hasn’t lacked since arriving back in November 2014 and it was yet another one that dug his side out of a strange losing position against Carlisle United.

“We are a team and we work hard for each other and we keep on going.

“Luckily Denny was there in the right place and he slotted it in.

“Everybody has played a good game and I am pleased with everybody.”
