BREWERS PRAISED FOR FAMILY-FRIENDLY MATCHDAY EXPERIENCE

1 December 2015

THE family-friendly experience of matchdays at Burton Albion has been praised after a ‘mystery shopper-style’ visit conducted by the Football League.

As part of its Family Excellence Awards 2015/16 the Football League sends an undercover family to visit each club and to report back on the experience.

Albion’s secret visit took place at the Rochdale home game in September with a family of one adult and a boy and girl watching the Brewers win 1-0 in this League One clash.

The family enjoyed the experience and were especially impressed with the friendliness of the staff at the Pirelli Stadium.

Their report says: “Throughout the afternoon the stewards emerged as the club’s biggest strength; friendly, pro-active, sensitive to families with kids and generally a credit to the club.”

The family also praised:
- The good quality food selection (especially the faggots);
- The friendly mascot;
- Friendly staff in the club shop;
- No bad/abusive language;
- Easy, good value parking;
- The friendly, helpful phone service.

The report said: “What came across strongly from the first visit was the warm, friendly and pro-active welcome from the stewards at all points during the afternoon. This is a considerable strength and one which many clubs struggle to deliver.”

Burton Albion commercial director Fleur Robinson says: “We are delighted to get another very positive report from this annual survey. It supports our message that Burton Albion is safe, welcoming place to bring a family.

“What we also do is look very carefully at these reports so we can keep on improving to ensure the matchday experience gets better and better.”
