BREWERS TO TRAVEL TO GRESLEY TONIGHT

1 July 2015

BURTON Albion take on old rivals Gresley in the first pre-season friendly of the year on what might prove the hottest day of the year so far.

As temperatures soar, the Albion first team squad is stepping up training, with two games this week before heading for a pre-season trip to Holland.

The important thing for Brewers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is making sure the team is getting back to full match readiness.

He says: “Fitness is key but there are other things we are looking at. We know it’s a process. We need to be as ready as possible by the time the season begins.

Albion have added a clutch of new signings to last year’s League Two-winning team including defender Darius Charles and midfielders Calum Butcher and Callum Reilly.

Hasselbaink says: “We are happy with how the squad’s shaping up. There are still some bits and pieces to be done but we are getting there.”

Albion travel to Gresley tonight with a 7.30pm kick off. The game will consists of three 30-minute sections.
