BURTON ALBION AT THE RACES

27 July 2015

IT was off to the races for Burton Albion as the League 2 champions enjoyed a pre-season ‘fixture’ at Uttoxeter Racecourse ahead of the start of the new campaign.

Brewers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and chairman Ben Robinson were among the Burton Albion representatives at the special race day on Sunday, July 26.

Uttoxeter Racecourse billed the event as a family fun day with great races for the grown-ups and plenty of entertainment for the kids.

In the Centre Course there were electric go karts, pony and funfair rides; the race card had a Burton Albion theme and Burton Albion Community Trust helped make sure that Brewers fans enjoyed their day at the races.

Burton Albion chairman Ben Robinson said: “This continues our long-standing partnership with Uttoxeter Racecourse which we have built up over a number of years. Last year was the first year we had a race day allocated to the club and we have enjoyed that again this season. It was a chance for the players, officials and staff members to enjoy a great day out at Uttoxeter and for us to showcase the work of our community trust.”

Burton Albion Community Trust contributed to the family fun day at the course with activities including an inflatable for children to play on.

Andy Taylor, head of community, said: “We had our mascots Billy and Betty Brewer there as well so it was a good day and a chance to raise the profile of the trust, especially the work we do in the Uttoxeter area.”
