Burton Albion Sign Calum Butcher

TALENTED young midfielder Calum Butcher has today become the latest of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s summer transfer targets to sign for Burton Albion.

The 24 -year old has been plying his trade north of the border but has been tempted back south as Albion look forward to League One football for the first time in the club’s history.

Butcher notched up more than 35 appearances at Scottish Premiership side Dundee United after spending the first two years of his professional career on the books at Tottenham Hotspur

He has signed a two-year deal with the Brewers.

Butcher turned down a new deal at Dundee United to come to the Pirelli Stadium and is now looking forward to being part of Albion’s new-look squad.

He said: “The team obviously won League Two last year so it’s already a very good squad. Now it’s League One and everyone will want to impress in that division. It’s going to be a really exciting season.”

Albion have already added former Birmingham City midfielder Callum Reilly to the squad. Reilly completed a permanent move to the Pirelli Stadium after featuring briefly on-loan last season.
