Defender looking forward to Hatters clash
Burton Albion defender Shane Cansdell–Sherriff is looking forward the prospect of facing current League 2 table toppers Luton Town this weekend at the Pirelli Stadium.
Â
Saturday’s game will give the Brewers and newly appointed manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink another stern challenge following Monday night’s impressive away victory at Adams Park against Wycombe Wanderers.
Â
“These are the games you want be involved in as a player, they’ve done really well, they’ve been slow for a while and been in the background and crept past everyone. They’re going to bring up a big crowd and it’s will be a great atmosphere,” he said.
Â
He also believes that Albion can end the Hatters’ unbeaten 11 game run in the league, and is expecting a real excitement around the Pirelli Stadium come kick-off on Saturday.
Â
“We know we can do it, we are a good side, we know we bounced back on Monday night and we’ve just got to put it to them.”
Â
The Australian defender was also quick to praise the new manager’s effect and experience already since arriving last week, and says the players have responded well
Â
“It’s been very organised, you can see with gaffer’s experience exactly what he wants. What I’ve noticed is how much he understands League 2 football and the type of football it is and he’s prepared us for that in the way we play and set up.”
Â
“The gaffer has so much experience in the game, you can see it already, you can see in just the little bits he’s added already and I think it’s great for the younger players, because he’s been there and done it all.
Â
“There is so much to take from him, even for myself who’s been around a while, I’ve already learned bits and pieces,” Cansdell-Sherriff said.
Â
Cansdell-Sherriff is also expecting a big crowd from the Albion faithful in what is the manager’s first home game after two tough away games.
Â
“I think there will be a really good buzz about the place. I’m really looking forward to it and I am sure the manager will be looking for his first home victory.”
