CLOUGH CONFIRMS REMI MATTHEWS WILL RETURN TO NORWICH CITY

2 January 2016

BURTON Albion manager has confirmed on-loan goalkeeper Remi Matthews will return to his parent club Norwich City today.

Matthews was signed on loan by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink until today's date, January 2nd but has only made six appearances.

Jon McLaughlin has been in such good form all season and that is one of the main reasons Matthews hasn't made more appearances.

Nigel Clough said: "Remi will be going back, he wants to play football.

"He came to challenge in the first team but he understands that Jon McLaughlin has been in such good form."

He added: "Remi will go back to try and find another club.

"He's been brilliant since he's been here and it's been good to have him around."
