DEFENDER SAYS ALBION WILL BOUNCE BACK FROM SHREWSBURY DEFEAT

25 January 2016

BREWERS full-back Damien McCrory was pleased to score on Saturday but was disappointed with his side's defeat.

After opening the scoring in the 18th minute with a spectacular strike the defender said: “I always back myself to score from the edge of the box, I had a shot earlier on in the match before the goal and that was blocked and I felt like that had a chance of going in.

"The manager has come in has tried to get me to push more forward and we do a lot of shooting practice so it’s good to see it come off. I scored five or six last season and I would like to at least equal that this season.

"We didn’t really click in an attacking sense, we dominated enough but we didn’t create enough chances and I felt we didn’t win enough second balls in the match. It’s the first time I think that we have gone in leading at half-time this season and lost the game so it is a bit of a strange feeling for the team and we are obviously disappointed.”

Despite the defeat, McCrory has backed his team-mates to come back with a strong response come Tuesday evening and the trip to Peterborough.

“We are all about reaction and that’s what we will do against Peterborough. We won’t be going there thinking a draw is a good result with our current position we want to ensure that we come away from there with all three points.”
