LOAN SPELL WILL BE INVALUABLE SAYS DEFENDER

30 July 2015

A SEASON-long loan at Burton Albion is just what Jerome Binnom-Williams feels he needs to further his career.

The 20 year old defender is a product of the Crystal Palace academy and made his debut for the Premiership club in the League Cup in 2013.

He impressed at Burton Albion’s promotion rivals Southend while on loan last season which helped persuade Palace boss Alan Pardew to offer him a new deal.

Now he’s hoping that he can gain more valuable experience in League One with the Brewers.

He says: “I signed a two-year deal with Palace at the end of last season and I was more than happy with that.

“But I’m pleased to come to Burton Albion and hopefully get some game time, which is what I need. Watching them last season and seeing them winning the league, I could tell it was a good club and we knew that at Southend.

“When I knew they wanted me on loan I was happy to take it. Jimmy said some really good things to me and I knew I wanted to work with him. We all know what he’s done in football at clubs like Chelsea, so it’s all good.

“It’s nice to know I’m here for the season, so hopefully I can work with the lads and show the fans and everybody what I have come here for.

“Left back is where I prefer to play although I have played in central defence and I’m happy to help the team out if they want me to play somewhere else.”
