JOHN MOUSINHO SAYS THE TEAM WON'T LOSE TOO MUCH CONFIDENCE

25 February 2015

“We were below par.”

After the Brewers lost their second game under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on Tuesday night at Accrington, captain John Mousinho told burtonalbionfc.co.uk that they will be critical about their performance without losing too much confidence.

“We were below par.” Mousinho told us.

He then added “We were excellent in the game on Saturday and we were looking to take some of those things into the game today and improve on them but unfortunately we didn’t do it.

“In the first half I think we looked off the pace and all be it we didn’t concede too many chances but one that Accrington had, they put away.

“We are going to have a look at ourselves and be critical about our performance without losing too much confidence from the run we have just been on.”

After registering 11 shots in the match without a single shot on target, Mousinho blames it down to the final ball and insists the team must keep putting it on a plate for the strikers to put home. The closest the Brewers came was a header from former Accrington Stanley man Phil Edwards but his header blazed over the bar.

“The final ball was lacking possibly and we didn’t really have too many clear cut chances but we did get a great chance from a set-piece and one from a cut-back as well.

“I think these sort of games are ones that if you can nick the chances then you will come away with a point but at any level you have to create more than one or two chances because there will be chances that are missed.

“You just have to keep creating and putting it on a plate for the strikers who will put one away eventually and we just didn’t do that for the 90 minutes.”
