Skipper looks back on hard earned point
John Mousinho expressed his disappointment at seeing two points slip through the Brewers grasp as in-form Exeter City denied Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s second place in the League 2 table with an 86th minute equaliser through former Albion triallist Christian Ribeiro.“I felt quite comfortable going into the 80th to 90th minutes and it was really disappointing” reflected the popular summer recruit, “maybe even more so than last week because we didn't play that well [at Shrewsbury] but certainly this week we had some really good play in the first half and got the chance and the goal in the second.”
"We had a penalty shout and another chance which went wide.”
"It's disappointing from that point of view and from the point of view of the back four, because we felt pretty comfortable and would go and get three points.”
"It's not a bad result here against a good side who have been in good form, having struggled earlier in the season, and they're a good footballing side as well, and the pleasing thing is we nullified them for long periods of the game.”
It was another game where Albion looked solid at the back and restricted the home side to only a handful of chances with keeper Jon McLaughlin hardly tested yet again. That is something that John sees as a real positive about the team at the moment and definitely something for the side to build on in the coming weeks.
"Jon didn't really have any saves to make and I couldn't really see them scoring until that set piece near the end. We hadn't looked vulnerable from set pieces.”
"We'll take a lot of positives, without a doubt, and I think it's a sign that we're coming away from places like Shrewsbury and Exeter devastated that we haven't taken either a point or all three and we’re in positions both weeks to do that.”
"I thought we played some really good football, especially in the first half when there was some nice one and two-touch moves, we created some really good openings and credit to the front six, the two full-backs - the whole team really - distribution was good and we looked lively.

With Ian Sharps and Lee Bell currently out of the side Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has put his faith in Mousinho to skipper the side, something that the former Preston and Stevenage midfielder is proud of.
"He's put a lot of faith in me and that's rewarding from my point of view.”

Although not strange to the role of centre back Mousinho has not only taken on the role of team captain but also had to fill in as a central defender with Ian Sharps missing through a foot injury and the new role is something he is enjoying at the moment.
"I'm really enjoying it, especially when we're playing some good football in front of us and popping it about.
"I've always said I'll play anywhere and just enjoy playing football, playing centre-half is great as well.”
"Wherever the manager needs me I'll play.”
