FEBRUARY

Burton stretched their unbeaten League Two run to 10 games as they returned to the top with a comfortable win at Cheltenham Town.

The Brewers took the lead through Stuart Beavon's opportunistic effort into the bottom corner from a rebound.

Adam McGurk headed in before Phil Edwards nodded home from six yards for 3-0 as the Robins fell apart.

Wes Burns grabbed a consolation for Paul Buckle's side after beating two players to fire into the top corner.

Burton Albion were knocked off the top of League Two by Shrewsbury Town after failing to beat 10-man AFC Wimbledon.

The Brewers had the better chances, even before the Dons had Mark Phillips sent off for an altercation with Stuart Beavon with 25 minutes left.

Beavon and Lucas Akins both went close before the break and Beavon missed a great chance after Phillips saw red.

The closest the visitors came was when Albion's Tom Naylor had to clear off his own line.

Before the interval, Brewers keeper Jon McLaughlin made a fine low stop from Alfie Potter, while Phillips and Adebayo Akinfenwa were both off target.

Burton remained level on points with Shrewsbury at the top of League Two following a 2-0 victory over Oxford.

Adam McGurk's 13th-minute header set the Brewers on their way, but had defender Phil Edwards to thank for denying Johnny Mullins an equaliser.

U's top scorer Danny Hylton steered wide and Josh Ashby's free-kick hit the crossbar as the visitors pushed hard.

But Lucas Akins' late drilled effort secured Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side three points and a 12th game unbeaten.

Burton Albion moved to the top of League Two following a hard-fought win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

Stuart Beavon had the best chance of the first half but his deflected shot was spectacularly saved by Daggers keeper Mark Cousins.

Alex Jakubiak put the home side ahead with a neat finish before Burton's Adam McGurk equalised from close range.

Substitute Abdenasser El Khayati and Damien McCrory scored late on to seal victory for the Brewers.

Josh Windass scored his first league goal to earn a comfortable win for Accrington and end Burton Albion's 13-game unbeaten run.

The League Two leaders last suffered defeat in November, but they failed to break the deadlock against Accrington.

Windass, the son of former Hull player Dean, gave the hosts the lead with a fierce shot from long distance.

Former Accrington man Phil Edwards had the best chance to level for Burton but his header went over the bar.

Miles Storey's spectacular strike gave Newport County victory at League Two leaders Burton Albion.

Storey, on loan from Swindon Town, scored a stunning volley as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink suffered a first home defeat since taking charge at Burton.
