TOM NAYLOR SIGNS NEW DEAL

29 June 2015

MIDFIELDER Tom Naylor has signed a two-year deal with Burton Albion.

The 24-year-old joined the Brewers on loan from Derby County in January and quickly established himself in the first team, helping Albion secure the League Two title.

He was keen to sign permanently for the Brewers and impressed Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with his hard-working performances.

Tom says: “When the gaffer told me he wanted to do the deal, there was no hesitation. I signed up straight away.

“I established myself in the side at the back end of last season and I really enjoyed it. We won the League and it was really nice to be part of that team. The club is clearly going places and that’s the reason I wanted to sign and try and get further up the league with Burton Albion.

“Since we have come back for training, everyone is buzzing, really up for it. We just want to get this pre-season out of the way and crack on with that first game of the season at home to Scunthorpe.”

Tom says that the players are already working hard.

“It’s like pre-season everywhere you go, it’s quite intense. It’s going to be a long few weeks but it’s all worthwhile when it comes to the first game of the season.”

Tom is also confident that Albion will more than hold their own in League One.

He says: “I’m sure the gaffer’s bringing the right players into the squad. There are also quite a few players from last season still under contract. Everyone’s gelled and I’m sure we will push on and get as high as we can in our first season in League One.”
