Torquay v Burton Preview

21 September 2012

Pre match build up

The Brewers make their second trip of the season to Devon on Saturday to face last season’s play-off semi-finalists Torquay United.

Gary Rowett is almost certain to be without the services of Marcus Holness after the centre back limped out of the victory over York City on Wednesday evening with a hamstring injury.

Billy Kee has returned to training after illness earlier in the week, with no other new injury concerns heading into the match. Chris Palmer (ankle), Jimmy Phillips (foot) and John McGrath (foot) remain on the long term injured list, but all three players will be targeting a return in October.

Burton are currently sixth in the npower League Two season after three consecutive wins, a fourth win in a row would represent a record for the Brewers in the Football League. Torquay, undefeated during the their first three home league games of the season, are two points behind the Brewers in 13th position.

Last season the home 1-4 defeat to Torquay United proved to be the last game in charge for manager Paul Peschisolido after a 14 game winless run. The Brewers began the 2011/12 season with a journey to Plainmoor, allowing a two goal lead slip after a Justin Richards brace to draw 2-2.

A full interview with Gary Rowett is now available on Brewers Player.
