WE NEED TO CONCENTRATE ON THE GAME - NOT THE LEAGUE TABLE, SAYS SKIPPER

30 November 2015

BREWERS captain John Mousinho says the team will not have one eye on the chance to go back to the top of League One when they take on Millwall tomorrow night.

Speaking after the 5-1 victory over Colchester, Mousinho said: "We can go top on Tuesday but we are not concentrating on that. That was the case when we played Coventry and we lost so we need to stay focussed on the game.

"We won’t be looking at the League table but just the game in isolation. That’s the best thing for us as we need to go out and put in another good performance.

"We were delighted with the result on Saturday, but bizarrely not the performance. We were sloppy at the start and came out of the blocks with no real purpose and no meaning to our play and got punished for it. The overall feeling was that although we were happy with the result and how emphatic the scoreline was in the end, it was a slow start.

"We were fortunate to be 2-1 up at half time and although we won 5-1, that flattered us in terms of performance.

"What was brilliant was the way we put away our chances, we were very clinical and could have had a couple more. We were pleased that we finally opened a team up and put a few away.

"Millwall is another test for us. We have had a lot of games in a short space of time but everyone is relishing it and we need to put Wigan behind is, put Colchester behind us and remember we need to  knuckle down and work hard again. We want to take confidence from the last two results but it’s a fine line and we need to get it right and remember we have to keep working."
