Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido is expecting a quiet afternoon in the lead up to this evening's transfer deadline. Peschisolido had hinted over the past days that he may still have one or two surprises up his sleeve but as the deadline hour looms it now looks less likely that he will be adding to his current squad.
Peschisolido said, 'I haven't had any phone calls so I expect it to be a quiet day. I'm happy with the squad we've got. I didn't want anybody to leave that was the most important thing.
Speaking of his potential targets he commented, 'Nothing's come of them so there's probably going to be a big flurry as we get closer to deadline hour. Things will filter down so we'll see what happens.'
'I'm really pleased (with the current squad), I think realistically at this level there aren't those players who are going to win you the league by themselves. I think it's a team effort and it's very important that we galvanise what we already have with the players we've already got becoming better as a unit. I'm pleased no one leaves and we'll push on from that.'
Peschisolido has worked well this summer to attract some credible names from the Football League such as Darren Moore, Nathan Stanton and Adam Bolder, without paying a transfer fee. The Canadian manager believes the pulling power of the Club is now greater than it has ever been due to the successful start to life in the Football league.
'I'm very pleased,' said Pesch. 'We didn't buy anyone but we were able to perhaps go that little bit further with wages, the Chairman has been brilliant. Gone are the days when we were a part time non-league Club. It's a League Club, one that's serious about becoming bigger. People are starting to see that and starting to see what we are trying to do here. We've become an exciting proposition for players lower and players higher.'
Peschisolido has used his past relationships with former team mates well to attract players of a high calibre to the Club. And the Brewers boss feels that it is a mutual respect between the players and himself which has contributed towards the recruitment of several players.
Pesch said, 'I think we needed a bit more experience in certain areas and fortunately we were able to bring in Darren (Moore) and a few other players. I think it's a respect thing. I've always played the game in the way I wanted it to be played and you get to have a good reputation through that. And I want that reputation to carry on through my managerial career. Hopefully with that the players will see this is a Club in progression and maybe join us.'
