PAUL'S DERBY DAY DELIGHT
Burton Albion gained revenge on Staffordshire rivals Port Vale for their defeat in the Potteries last month as Jacques Maghoma struck the only goal of the game six minutes before half time. The midfielder's third strike of the season moved Albion back into the top half of the table and onto forty points just five points off the play-off positions.
Vale hit the post through striker Craig Davies in the second half as Micky Adams side fought for an equaliser but with Tony James and Tom Parkes again in impressive form at the heart of Albion's defence it was a rare scare for Artur Krysiak in the Albion goal.
Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido was quick to come out and praise his side after the match. Little needed to be said to the players who let their performance do the talking but the manager was happy to take the three points again
"I am delighted and it keeps the run going for us." he said. "We asked for the same resilience and performance as in the last three games and we certainly got that today. It was a great performance."
