Pesch happy with Bees point

Posted on: Sat 27 Mar 2010

Greg Pearson's 12th goal of the season, his third in as many matches, secured another point on the road for Paul Peschisolido's Brewers.

Only Mark Hughes' goal in stoppage time at the end of the first half prevented Albion returning from Hertfordshire with all three points but both sides battled until the final whistle to try and gain the extra two points on offer with neither side quite able to make a breakthrough during the second period.

Reflecting on the game afterwards Pesch was happy with a point but felt that Albion possibly could have come away with another precious away win.

"I cant complain" he said, "I thought the performance was fantastic."

"It shows again how far we have come. Coming to a place like Barnet we would have been happy with a point but the lads are in the dressing room feeling devastated because they feel they have given away two points."

Pearson netted in the 18th minute after good work from Cleveland Taylor and Jimmy Phillips but the majority of Albion's other chances fell to Shaun Harrad who has been in such good form but today was one of those days when the ball would just not go in the net for the in form striker with Barnet keeper Jake Cole making some good saves as well to deny Albion's leading scorer.

Albion remain in 12th in the League 2 table following the rest of the days results and now have to prepare themselves for a busy Easter programme starting against Darlington (home) who have just sacked manager Steve Staunton but who today notched an impressive away win to condemn Shrewsbury Town to a fourth straight defeat. The Brewers then travel to Bury on Easter Monday to take on a faltering Shakers side who will be looking to get their promotion push back on track.

Paul's full post match comments will be online at Brewers Player HERE later.
