18 year old former Liverpool striker James Ellison has today become Paul Peschisolido's third new signing of the summer, signing a two year deal after passing a medical at the Pirelli Stadium this morning.
James signed his first professional contract with the Anfield club last summer having been at the club from the age of eight and joining the Reds was the culmination of a boyhood dream for the Bootle teenager.
With competition for places fierce amongst the top Premiership clubs, James has joined a growing number of young players in moving on to make their name further down the League and now sees this as an opportunity to move his football career forward.
James told www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk - "This is a good opportunity for me. I think at this age now I need to be getting some first team experience under my belt. I just want to show people what I can do and hopefully get recognised."
"It was very difficult decision to leave the club I have supported since I was a boy but I realise now that it is the best decision I could have made."
The talented frontman takes a great deal of confidence from the fact that his new manager's background was as a striker in the top echelons of the English game giving him a good eye for a promising striker saying "It was a big compliment and boost for me that a striker of the Paul's background and quality thinks that I have got something and that he wants to sign me. I saw this as a big opportunity and took it."
The young frontman had already impressed Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido, playing and scoring against Albion's reserve side for Sheffield United reserves towards the end of last season and prompting the Brewers boss to offer the young striker a chance to make more good impressions on Albion's manager in a short trial and a behind closed doors friendly.
Pleased with what he saw, 'Pesch' was keen to fend off other clubs to offer James the chance to challenge for first team football and hopes that James' desire to impress will benefit both player and club.
"I really like James and I think he has got fabulous potential" said 'Pesch', "James spent a week with us towards the end of last season and I really liked his movement, his enthusiasm on the training pitch and he does everything properly which shows the excellent schooling he has had at Liverpool."
"James is very keen to just play football and unfortunately at places like Liverpool, when you are a young lad, with the amount of money these clubs spend it is hard to get a look in and James just wants to get on and make a name for himself. I have a good feeling about the boy and from what I have seen of him in training so far we have got ourselves a great prospect."
