Paul Peschisolido declared himself 'absolutely delighted' after watching his Burton Albion side bounce back from last week's disappointing 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham Town with a resounding 3-0 victory over Hereford United at the Pirelli Stadium.
Richard Walker marked his return to the starting line-up for the first time since last November with the opening goal in the 27th minute and Albion's lead was doubled four minutes later when Shaun Harrad raced clear to fire home. Whatever visiting manager Simon Davey said to his troops at half time was blown out of the water when Russ Penn's shot deflected off defender Richard Rose in the opening seconds of the second half to fly past a wrong footed Adam Bartlett and seal Albion's victory.
Walker almost sealed a fantastic day with a second goal only to be denied by the woodwork after some superb skill on the edge of the box but Peschisolido was satisfied with his team's performance.
"I thought it was a fantastic result" said Paul, "3-0 at home and we had to had to play the last ten minutes with ten men due to injury. A clean sheet again which is number three for the season so there is nothing not to be happy about."
The only dampener on a good result was a double injury blow to the two centre halves with neither Nathan Stanton or Darren Moore finishing the game. Moore collided heavily with an advertising hoarding ten minutes from time requiring lengthy treatment whilst Stanton was injured just nineteen minutes into the game, stretching for a tackle and having to be replaced by former Bulls favourite Tony James. After the game Peschisolido gave more information on the injury situation.
"Darren has got some lacerations to his hands, wrist and face. He has got some bruised ribs which will be sore in the morning too but I feel more sorry for that board!"
"Stanno has done his hamstring which is a blow. He felt it go right away. We will assess it in the next forty eight hours or so and see how it is but it looks like a torn hamstring."
Aaron Webster marked his 500th appearance for the club with a man of the match performance and claiming two assists, firstly flicking on John McGrath's free kick to set up Richard Walker for his goal and then supplying the forward ball for Shaun Harrad to race clear and score. The long serving player was happy with his day's work.
"It has been a good day overall. My family have been in one of the boxes today and we have gone out on the pitch and done the business as well. Three goals, three points and all on my 500th game as well so all in all a great day."
"I think I made a good start to the game. I started in a positive fashion and just took it from there. To be fair I am in a confident frame of mind playing my football at the minute and I am showing that. I am happy with the two assists as well."
